Location: Innis Town Hall, University of Toronto (2 Sussex Avenue)

This is a professional storytelling performance consisting of traditional stories of Korea which is told in English. It is great for people who are unfamiliar with Korean culture and/or already interested but wants to better understand Korean culture.

  Kim’s Convenience – Toronto Fringe Festival
Date: Friday July 15 | Sunday July 17
Time: 5:15 p.m. | 7:00 p.m.
Location: Bathurst Street Theatre, Venue 3 (736 Bathurst Street)

A Korean-Canadian story, Kim’s Convenience, will be showing at the 2011 Toronto Fringe Festival, which is Toronto’s largest theatre and performance festival. Kim’s Convenience has won the Best New Play in the 2010 play contest of the Toronto Fringe Festival.

  Kimchi Hot Pot
Gimchi Jjigae (kimchi hot pot) is a quick main dish for leftover kimchi. You can cook in a Korean stone pot and place it in the middle of the table for sharing. From Quick & Easy Korean Cooking by Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee. You can use beef or chicken if you prefer, or skip the meat.

  Boryeong Mud Festival
Date: July 16, 2011 - July 24, 2011
Location: Chungcheongnam-do Boryeong-si Daecheon Beach

At the Boryeong Mud Festival (one of Korea’s most famous festivals) visitors slather themselves with mud for fun and to soak in the mud’s many nutrients. This zany, action-packed festival offers mud wrestling, mud slides, and a giant mud bath.

  Jecheon International Music & Film Festival
Date: August 11 – August 16
Location: Multiplex Theater TTC Cinema, Jecheon Media Center, Cheongpunghoban Stage, Art hall on the Lake, Cultural Street, JIMFF Stage and Urimji

The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, which was launched in 2005, was the first music and film festival in Korea. The festival kicks off on August 12 with a grand evening celebration, and continues until August 17.
